Acknowledgements:

I would like to acknowledge several important people that has made a big impact on me throughout the course of my career.  Without them, I wouldn't be where I am today.

First and foremost, my beloved husband,
Ralph.  He has been my constant source of inspiration, positive feedback and unconditional support.  He is my true partner in life and has made the journey so much easier.

Dr. John Kubaryk, my Master's major professor.  I thank him for granting me full tuition and assistantship to pursue my graduate degree.  Additionally, I would like to express my appreciation for the guidance you afforded me throughout my master's education.

Dr. Joram Piatigorsky and Dr. Joe Horwitz.  These are two amazing scientists who became good friends even after I left Puerto Rico.  The summers that we spent collecting jellyfish was always fun, with their stories and jives at each other.  I will forever cherish those memories.

Dr. Joan Hare, she was my supervisor and mentor in the field of Cell and Molecular Biology.  I will forever be grateful to you for giving the chance to work at the Cell Culture facility and patiently teaching and guiding me in the lab.  The experience I gained while I was at IMB opened my eyes to aspects of Biology that I didn't even know existed.

Mr. Tom Sawyer, my principal.  He is responsible for where I am today.  He took a chance in hiring me three years ago.  Because of his belief in me and my ability to become a good teacher, gave me the inspiration to be one.  He opened doors for me and helped me finally find my niche.  I will forever be grateful.

More about me and my family

I was born and raised in the Philippines until I immigrated to the US in late 1987 with my husband.  After 17 years in the US, I was sworn in as a US citizen on July 4, 2004.  I have been married for 22 years to my college sweetheart, Ralph, a Professor in Biology at Florida Tech.  We have two beautiful daughters, Erin May (20) who is attending UF and Megan Elyse (12) who is in 7th grade in Hoover Middle School.  As a family we love to watch football and soccer.  We all root for the Florida State Seminoles, Atlanta Braves and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
